Ephesians 2:8-9 – Grace Through Faith, Not of Works | KJV
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
— Ephesians 2:8-9 KJVThree declarations that secure your salvation. First — by grace: God's unearned, undeserved favor. Second — through faith: the hand that receives what grace provides. Third — not of works: human effort is explicitly excluded from the equation of salvation.
Lest any man should boast. If salvation involved any human effort, someone could boast. God eliminates boasting by making salvation wholly of grace, wholly received by faith. Verse 10 shows works are the result of salvation — not the cause.
You cannot earn it. You cannot add to it. You can only receive it. Receive it now — fully, freely, finally. That is the beauty of grace that Paul reveals to the Body of Christ.
