Galatians 2:16 – Not Justified by the Works of the Law | KJV
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ.”
— Galatians 2:16 KJVPaul says it three times in one verse — not by the works of the law. No flesh. Never. The repetition is deliberate. The Galatians were being told to add Law-keeping to faith. Paul calls this another gospel — Galatians 1:8-9 — and pronounces a curse on those who preach it.
The faith of Jesus Christ — His perfect obedience, His death, His resurrection — is the basis of our justification. We bring our faith to receive what His faithfulness accomplished. The Law can never justify because no one keeps it perfectly.
Any gospel that adds works to faith is a false gospel — no matter how sincere the preacher. Galatians 2:16 is your protection. Stand in it firmly. Grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone.
