Hebrews – Written to Jews in Transition, Not to the Church | KJV
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son.”
— Hebrews 1:1-2 KJVThe book of Hebrews is addressed to — Hebrews. Jewish believers under pressure to return to the Mosaic system. Every warning in Hebrews — falling away, willful sinning, trampling the Son of God — must be read in that specific context.
Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26-29 are not warnings to Church age believers about losing salvation. They address Hebrew believers in the Acts transition period who were considering abandoning Christ and returning to the temple system. Context is everything.
Read Hebrews marveling at Christ's supremacy — better than angels, Moses, Aaron, the Levitical priesthood. But apply its warnings in their dispensational context before letting them shake your assurance in Christ.
