Moses the Lawgiver vs Paul the Grace Apostle | John 1:17 KJV
“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
— John 1:17 KJVJohn 1:17 sets Law and Grace in contrast — not contradiction, but contrast. Moses faithfully delivered the Law God gave him. But the Law could only show the standard; it could not provide the righteousness. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ — the full provision of what the Law demanded.
Moses wore a veil so Israel would not see the glory fading — 2 Corinthians 3:13. Law is a fading glory. Grace is an abiding glory. Paul writes that the ministry of the Spirit excels in glory — verse 8. We behold God's glory with unveiled faces.
You live in the unveiled glory of grace, not the veiled glory of Law. Let the full light of God's grace in Christ shine on you — unobstructed, unclouded, face to face. This is your privilege in the age of grace.
