Post 1 · 2 Timothy 2:15 – The Command to Rightly Divide
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." — 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
Who? Paul writing to Timothy — and through him, to every Grace-Age believer who handles the Word of God.
Dispensation: Grace Age — the Church, the Body of Christ, is the primary audience of Paul's epistles.
Key: "Rightly dividing" (แฝฯฮธฮฟฯฮฟฮผฮญฯ) — cutting straight, like a craftsman's precise cut. Implies wrong division is possible and dangerous.

The command to "rightly divide" assumes that the Bible contains distinctions — covenants, dispensations, audiences — that must be correctly identified. A workman who handles a text without regard to context and audience will be ashamed at the judgment seat. God has spoken to many people in many ways (Heb 1:1); knowing which portion speaks to whom is the foundation of all sound Bible study. This is not optional scholarship — it is God's direct command.
Application: Before reading any Bible passage today, ask three questions: (1) To whom was this written? (2) Under which covenant or dispensation? (3) How does it apply to me as a member of the Body of Christ? Begin journaling your findings for each passage.

Prayer: Lord, give us the discipline of a workman and the humility to let Your Word divide itself. Help us handle truth precisely, never mixing what You have distinguished. Amen.
