Post #106: The Mind Set on the Spirit (Rom 8:5-6) | KJV Right Division (Week 4)
Post 106 · In Christ – The Key Pauline Phrase (Rom 8:1)
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." — Romans 8:1 (KJV)
Who? Every believer who is 'in Christ Jesus' — no exceptions, no partial cases, no condemnation whatsoever.
Dispensation: Grace Age — 'in Christ' is the foundational phrase of the mystery; it appears over 160 times in Paul's letters and defines the believer's entire standing.
Key: "In Christ" = the positional truth of union with the risen Christ; everything we are, have, and will be is located 'in Him' — not in ourselves.

No condemnation. This is one of the most sweeping statements in the Bible. Not 'less condemnation,' not 'reduced condemnation,' but NO condemnation — to them which are in Christ Jesus. The basis is not our walk (though walking after the Spirit is the result, not the condition) but our position: IN CHRIST. The phrase 'in Christ' occurs over 160 times in Paul's letters — in Christ Jesus, in him, in whom — always pointing to the same reality: our complete identification with the crucified, buried, risen, and ascended Lord. What is true of Him is true of us positionally. He was condemned once; we are condemned never. He was raised; we are raised with Him. He is seated at the right hand; we are seated in Him. This is our address: IN CHRIST.
Application: Read Romans 8:1-4. Verse 1 declares no condemnation. Verse 2 explains why: the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed us from the law of sin and death. Verse 3-4: God condemned sin in the flesh through Christ so that the Law's righteous requirement might be fulfilled in us through the Spirit. The no-condemnation is not because God ignores sin — it's because sin was fully condemned in Christ. Write a paragraph on what 'no condemnation' means for how you relate to God the next time you fail.

Prayer: There is no condemnation for me — because I am in Christ Jesus. The verdict is final, the Judge has spoken, and the answer is NO CONDEMNATION. Let this truth be louder than every accusing voice, every guilty conscience, every performance-based fear. I am in Christ. Amen.
