Post #107: Mortify the Deeds of the Body (Rom 8:13) | KJV Right Division (Week 4)
Post 107 · The Security of the Believer (Rom 8:38-39)
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)
Dispensation: Grace Age — eternal security is not a doctrine about human perseverance but about divine holding; God holds us, not we God.
Key: Eight categories exhausting the universe of potential separators — death, life, angels, powers, present, future, height, depth — and all of them fail. Nothing separates.
Romans 8:38-39 is the capstone of the Bible's greatest chapter. After establishing no condemnation (v.1), the Spirit's indwelling (v.9-11), adoption (v.14-17), suffering's glory (v.18), creation's groaning (v.22-23), the Spirit's intercession (v.26-27), God's purpose for good (v.28), predestination, calling, justification, and glorification (v.29-30), and the rhetorical 'who can separate us?' (v.35-37) — Paul reaches his conclusion: I am PERSUADED. Eight categories exhaust the universe: death (the worst) and life (the best), angels and principalities (superhuman), present (now) and future (ever), height (above) and depth (below). None of them can separate. The security is total, permanent, and based entirely on God's love in Christ — not our faithfulness.
