Post #108: Walking in the Spirit vs. Flesh | KJV Right Division (Week 4)
Post 108 · The Resurrection – Grace Age Foundation (1 Cor 15:17)
"And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins." — 1 Corinthians 15:17 (KJV)
Dispensation: Grace Age — the resurrection is not merely one doctrine among many; it is the load-bearing wall of the entire Christian structure.
Key: If the resurrection is false: Christ is still dead (v.17), our faith is empty (v.17), we are still in our sins (v.17), the dead are perished (v.18), we are most miserable (v.19).
1 Corinthians 15 is the most comprehensive treatment of resurrection in the New Testament. Paul begins with the gospel (vv.1-4), lists the resurrection witnesses including 500 at once (vv.5-8), defends his own apostleship (vv.9-11), and then demolishes the position of those denying resurrection with a chain of 'if not' conclusions (vv.12-19) — each more devastating than the last. The resurrection is not peripheral — it is the load-bearing wall. If Christ did not rise, the whole building collapses: no propitiation accepted, no justification confirmed, no hope of future bodily resurrection for believers. The flip side (v.20 — 'but now is Christ risen') restores all of it: our faith is valid, our sins are forgiven, the dead will rise, we are not miserable — we are the most blessed people on earth.
