Post #120: The Spirit of Adoption (Rom 8:15) | KJV Right Division (Week 5)

Post 120 · Day 31-2: Ephesians 5:18-20 – Filled with the Spirit

"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." — Ephesians 5:18-20 (KJV)
Who? Church Age believers — members of the Body of Christ.
Dispensation: Grace Age — the Spirit indwells permanently, filling is experiential and continuous.
Grammar: "Be filled" is a present passive imperative — a continuous, ongoing yielding to the Spirit.

Being filled with the Spirit is not a one-time crisis experience but an ongoing lifestyle of yielding. The contrast with drunkenness is instructive — just as wine controls a drunk person, the Spirit is to control the Spirit-filled believer. The fruit is outward: singing, gratitude, mutual submission. This is the Spirit-empowered life available to every believer in the Grace Age right now.

Application: Fill your environment with worship — psalms, hymns, Scripture-rich music. This is not just entertainment; it is the Spirit's chosen medium for filling. Begin your day singing or listening to doctrinally sound worship and watch how it shapes your spirit.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill me afresh today. Control my thoughts, words, and actions. Let praise rise from a yielded heart. Amen.
