Post #126: The Breastplate of Righteousness Explained | KJV Right Division (Week 5)
Post 126 · Day 33-2: 1 Peter 2:9 – Royal Priesthood in Grace
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." — 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
Who? Peter writes to Jewish believers of the dispersion — these titles echo Exodus 19:6 (Israel's calling).
Dispensation: Note: This epistle is transitional; in Grace Age application, all believers are priests (no clergy-laity distinction) by the principle of the priesthood of all believers.
Application: Every Grace Age believer has direct access to God — no human mediator needed.

The term "royal priesthood" combines kingly and priestly functions. In Israel, king and priest were separate offices. In Christ, they are united. As members of His Body, we share in that priestly access — offering spiritual sacrifices (Rom 12:1), interceding for others, and declaring God's praises. We need no earthly priest to stand between us and God because we are already priests ourselves.
Application: Exercise your priesthood today: intercede for five people in your life. No middleman needed — go directly to God's throne of grace (Heb 4:16) and bring those people with you in prayer.

Prayer: Father, thank You that in Christ we are priests — with bold, immediate access to Your throne. We come now with thanksgiving and intercession. Amen.
