Post #138: Joy in Tribulation (Rom 5:3-5) | KJV Right Division (Week 5)
Post 138 · Day 35-8: Philippians 4:8 – Thinking on These Things
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." — Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
Who? The Philippian church — believers under Paul's apostleship and care.
Dispensation: Grace Age — the renewed mind is shaped by intentional thought selection.
Key Practice: "Think on these things" — Greek logizomai: to calculate, to account; a deliberate, purposeful mental activity.

Paul gives us a mental filter for the Grace Age. Our thought diet determines our spiritual health. The eight categories — true, honest, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtuous, praiseworthy — are the mental nutrients that produce peace (v. 7) and godliness. This is not positive thinking; it is God-directed, Christ-centered thought selection. What we meditate on, we become.
Application: For 24 hours, apply Philippians 4:8 to every media input. Before watching, reading, or listening to something, ask: "Is this true, honest, pure, lovely, of good report?" Let this be your content filter.

Prayer: Lord, guard the gate of our minds. Let what is true and pure and praiseworthy fill our thoughts — and crowd out everything that dishonors You. Amen.
