Post 144 · Day 37-1: Revelation 2-3 – Letters to the Seven Churches
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." — Revelation 2:7 (KJV)
Who? Seven literal first-century churches in Asia Minor — also representative of church ages through history, and types of local churches in any age.
Dispensation: These letters straddle the Grace Age and contain warnings that span church history.
Key Pattern: Each letter: Commendation → Condemnation → Command → Promise.

The seven letters reveal Christ's intimate knowledge of each assembly — He walks among the lampstands (1:13). Ephesus left its first love. Smyrna was faithful in persecution. Pergamos tolerated false doctrine. Thyatira permitted immorality. Sardis had a name but was dead. Philadelphia had little strength but kept the Word. Laodicea was lukewarm. Each letter demands self-examination: which letter describes your church — or you?
Application: Read all seven letters in one sitting. Ask honestly: "Which church do I most resemble?" Then act on the command given to that church. For Ephesus: return to first love. For Laodicea: be zealous and repent.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You know our works. Commend what is right; correct what is wrong. May we hear what the Spirit says and heed it. Amen.
