Post #149: Satan's Role in Different Dispensations | KJV Right Division (Week 6)

Post 149 · Day 38-3: Satan's Role in Different Dispensations

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast unto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." — Revelation 12:9 (KJV)
Now: Satan is the "prince of the power of the air" (Eph 2:2) — active but limited; Christ has defeated him at Calvary (Col 2:15).
Tribulation: Satan cast to earth; intensified activity (Rev 12).
Millennium: Satan bound in the bottomless pit (Rev 20:1-3).
After Millennium: Released briefly, then cast into the lake of fire forever (Rev 20:10).

Understanding Satan's dispensational role prevents two errors: (1) overestimating his current power (he is defeated — Col 2:15) and (2) underestimating his present activity (1 Pet 5:8 — roaring lion). In the Grace Age, he cannot snatch a believer from Christ's hand (John 10:28-29), but he can wound, deceive, and accuse. His ultimate fate is sealed — the question is whether we live in light of Christ's victory over him.

Application: Study Satan's titles: Adversary, Deceiver, Accuser, Tempter. In which of these roles is he most active against you right now? Counter each with a specific Scripture promise of Christ's victory.

Prayer: Lord, we stand in Christ's victory over Satan. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Amen.
