Post #151: The Mystery of Iniquity (2 Thess 2) | KJV Right Division (Week 6)

Post 151 · Day 39-2: The Mystery of Iniquity – 2 Thessalonians 2

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way." — 2 Thessalonians 2:7 (KJV)
Who is the "Restrainer"? Most likely the Holy Spirit indwelling the Church — taken away at the Rapture, enabling the lawless one's full revelation.
Mystery of Iniquity: The secret working of lawlessness throughout history, culminating in the Antichrist.
Dispensation: This passage points from the Grace Age (Restrainer present) to the Tribulation (Restrainer removed).

Paul reveals a sobering reality: the spirit of antichrist is already at work — secretly, systematically, building toward the Tribulation's full manifestation. The Restrainer (Holy Spirit in/with the Church) currently holds this back. At the Rapture, the Restrainer is removed with the Church, and the "man of sin" is revealed. This underscores the Church's role as salt and light in a decaying world — our very presence restrains the full expression of evil.

Application: Live with the awareness that your presence as a Spirit-indwelled believer is a restraining force against darkness. Be salt — preserve; be light — expose. Your godly influence matters more than you know.

Prayer: Lord, use us as restraining forces in our generation. May our presence in society slow the tide of lawlessness until You come. Amen.
