Post #173: The Prosperity Gospel Examined | KJV Right Division (Week 7)
Post 173 · Day 44-2: Prosperity Gospel vs Grace Suffering
"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." — 2 Timothy 3:12 (KJV)
Common Error: Teaching that financial prosperity and physical health are God's guaranteed will for all believers — that poverty or sickness indicates weak faith.
Right Division Correction: Paul — who received more revelation than any apostle — was beaten, shipwrecked, imprisoned, and executed. He learned "contentment in all states" (Phil 4:11) — not abundance as a default. Grace Age suffering is purposeful: it produces conformity to Christ (Rom 8:17), expands ministry (2 Cor 4:17), and demonstrates God's power in weakness (2 Cor 12:9-10).
The prosperity gospel is a misapplication of Kingdom promises (made to Israel under the Mosaic covenant, Deut 28) to Grace Age believers. Paul's pattern is the right one: "I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content" (Phil 4:11). Suffering is not a sign of divine disfavor but of divine purpose. "It is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake" (Phil 1:29).

Prayer: Lord, teach us contentment in every state — in abundance and in need. May Your grace be sufficient for every trial. Amen.
