Post #175: Covenant Theology vs. Dispensationalism | KJV Right Division (Week 7)
Post 175 · Day 45-1: Covenant Theology vs Dispensationalism
"Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." — 2 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)
Covenant Theology's Core Error: Viewing all of Scripture through two or three overarching covenants (Works and Grace), flattening dispensational distinctions, spiritualizing Israel's promises as fulfilled in the Church.
Dispensational Correction: Scripture reveals distinct economies in which God tests man differently and reveals progressively more of His plan. The Church is not "spiritual Israel" — it is a distinct body, a mystery hidden from ages past (Eph 3:1-9, Rom 16:25-26), now revealed to Paul.
Covenant Theology reads the Bible backwards — imposing later revelation onto earlier texts and often spiritualizing what is meant literally. Dispensationalism reads the Bible progressively and literally, allowing each period of revelation to speak on its own terms. This does not deny the unity of Scripture — it celebrates the progressive unfolding of one God's plan across multiple economies, each fully coherent in itself and all pointing to Christ.

Prayer: Lord, give us eyes to see each dispensation clearly — not to divide Your Word but to rightly handle every part of it for its proper audience and era. Amen.
