Post #18: Matthew 24 – Signs for Israel, Not the Church | KJV Right Division (Week 1)
Post 18 · Matthew 24 – Signs for Israel, Not the Church
"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." — Matthew 24:4-5 (KJV)
Who? Jesus answering His Jewish disciples' question about the destruction of the Temple and the sign of His coming — all in an Israel/Kingdom context.
Dispensation: Future — Matthew 24 describes the Tribulation period, God's dealing with Israel, not the Church Age.
Key: The abomination of desolation (v.15), the flight to the mountains (v.16), the Sabbath (v.20) — all Jewish markers placing this in Israel's context.

Matthew 24 is widely applied to the Church as a prophecy checklist, but its context is entirely Jewish. The disciples ask about the Temple, Jesus warns about the abomination of desolation (Daniel's prophecy about Israel — Dan 9:27), tells them to pray that their flight not be on the Sabbath (Jews observe Sabbath, the Body does not), and points to Daniel as the interpretive key. This passage describes the Great Tribulation — the time of Jacob's Trouble (Jer 30:7) — not the Church Age. The Church is not destined for wrath (1 Thess 5:9). Matthew 24 is God's timetable for Israel's restoration through the fires of the Tribulation.
Application: Read Matthew 24:15-22 and Daniel 9:24-27 together. List every element that ties this prophecy to Israel (temple, Judaea, Sabbath, Daniel's '70th week'). Then read 1 Thessalonians 5:9 and Revelation 3:10 about the Church's exemption. Write out why Matthew 24 is Israel's, not the Church's, prophetic map.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that Matthew 24's terrors are not the Church's destiny — we await the Rapture, not the Tribulation. Help us rightly distinguish what belongs to Israel's future from what belongs to ours. Amen.
