Post #181: Mary – A Biblical Assessment | KJV Right Division (Week 7)
Post 181 · Day 47-1: Transubstantiation vs Memorial
"For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come." — 1 Corinthians 11:26 (KJV)
Catholic/High Church Error: Teaching that at consecration the bread and wine become the literal body and blood of Christ (transubstantiation) — a physical, sacrificial re-offering of Christ.
Right Division Correction: "Ye do shew" (proclaim) the Lord's death — past event, once-for-all (Heb 9:26-28, 10:10). Christ is seated at the right hand of God (Heb 10:12) — not on thousands of altars being re-sacrificed. The bread and cup are memorials: "this do in remembrance of me" (1 Cor 11:24-25). The Lord's Table is a proclamation, not a propitiation.
Transubstantiation implies the sacrifice of Christ is ongoing and requires priestly administration. Hebrews demolishes this: "once for all" (Heb 10:10), "one sacrifice for sins for ever" (Heb 10:12). The Grace Age observance of the Lord's Table is a joyful, corporate remembrance of a completed sacrifice — looking back to Calvary and forward to His return ("till he come"). It is the proclamation of the Gospel in symbol.

Prayer: Lord, as often as we take the bread and cup, remind us of Your once-for-all sacrifice. We proclaim Your death until You come. Amen.
