Post #185: Hyper-Grace – Taking Grace Too Far? | KJV Right Division (Week 7)

Post 185 · Day 48-2: Predestination vs Free Will

"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world... Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will." — Ephesians 1:4-5 (KJV)
Both Are True: God's sovereign election and human genuine choice operate simultaneously — Scripture affirms both without resolving the philosophical tension.
Key Grace Age Truth: Election is "in Christ" (Eph 1:4) — those who believe are found to be the elect. Election does not precede or bypass faith; it is expressed through it.

The Bible affirms both God's sovereign predestination (Eph 1:4-5, Rom 8:29-30) and genuine human responsibility (Acts 16:31, Rev 22:17). Hyper-Calvinism collapses everything into sovereignty, eliminating meaningful human choice and the urgency of the Gospel offer. Hyper-Arminianism collapses everything into free will, eliminating the security of the elect. Rightly divided, the tension is preserved — God initiates, humans respond, God secures. Both are fully biblical.

Prayer: Lord, You chose us in Christ before the world began — yet we genuinely chose You in response to Your gracious call. All glory to You. Amen.
