Post #190: Universal Reconciliation Examined | KJV Right Division (Week 7)
Post 190 · Day 49-4: The Charismatic Movement Examined
"Whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away." — 1 Corinthians 13:8 (KJV)
What We Affirm: The Holy Spirit is fully active today — regenerating, sealing, filling, gifting, and sanctifying believers.
What We Examine: Claims of tongues as ongoing normative gifts, "words of knowledge," direct prophetic revelation, and sign miracles as proof of Spirit filling.

The Charismatic movement has brought genuine enthusiasm for God and the Spirit — but has also introduced extra-biblical experiences as normative standards for Spirit-filled Christianity. Paul's epistles indicate sign gifts (tongues, healing, prophecy) were foundational — given to authenticate the apostolic message in the transitional period (Heb 2:3-4). Their purpose was confirmation of revelation; once revelation was complete (the closed canon), their sign function ceased. The Spirit's ongoing work is rich — but it does not require validating signs to be real.
