Post #211: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered | KJV Right Division (Week 8)
Post 211 · Day 54-3: False Teachers – Identification Checklist
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits." — Matthew 7:15-16 (KJV)
Warning Signs from Scripture:
1. Different gospel (Gal 1:8) · 2. Denial of Christ's deity or atonement (1 John 4:2-3) · 3. Covetousness/exploitation (2 Pet 2:3) · 4. Pride and self-promotion (3 John 9) · 5. Divisiveness (Titus 3:10) · 6. Itching-ears teaching (2 Tim 4:3-4) · 7. Moral failure beneath the surface (Jude 4) · 8. Adding to or subtracting from Scripture (Rev 22:18-19)

Paul warned the Ephesian elders with tears that "grievous wolves" would enter after his departure (Acts 20:29-31). False teachers rarely announce themselves. They use Christian vocabulary, quote Scripture out of context, and often have genuine charisma. The test is not style but substance: What do they say about the Gospel? About Christ? About Scripture? About money? About accountability? Fruit requires time to ripen — watch, pray, and test all things (1 Thess 5:21).
Application: Apply this checklist to teaching you regularly consume — podcasts, YouTube channels, books. Not to be hyper-critical, but to be discerning. "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits" (1 John 4:1).

Prayer: Lord, give us spiritual discernment — to recognize the wolf beneath the wool, and the courage to say so lovingly and clearly. Amen.
