Post #216: Worship in Spirit and Truth | KJV Right Division (Week 8)
Post 216 · Day 56-1: The Fear of the Lord Today
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." — Philippians 2:12 (KJV)
Fear of the Lord: Not terror (Rom 8:15 — "not spirit of fear/bondage") but reverent awe — the sober recognition of who God is and the weight of living before Him.
Grace Age Expression: "Work out" (not "work for") salvation — live out what God has worked in, with appropriate reverence and diligence.
Grace Age Expression: "Work out" (not "work for") salvation — live out what God has worked in, with appropriate reverence and diligence.
The fear of the Lord in the Grace Age is not the paralyzing fear of condemnation (Rom 8:1) but the solemn, motivating reverence of a child who deeply loves and deeply respects their Father. It produces holiness (2 Cor 7:1), wisdom (Prov 9:10 — principle transcends dispensations), and careful living. To lose the fear of the Lord is to lose the ballast of the soul — producing the drift that Paul warns against in Hebrews (2:1) and the carelessness he addresses in Romans 6.
Application: Spend time this week meditating on God's holiness (Isaiah 6), His omniscience (Ps 139), and His judgment (2 Cor 5:10). Let these realities recalibrate your reverence. Then live today as one who is constantly in His sight.

Prayer: Lord, restore a holy reverence in us — not a fearful bondage, but a trembling love that takes You seriously in every area of life. Amen.
