Post #227: The Crown of Rejoicing (1 Thess 2:19) | KJV Right Division (Week 8)

Post 227 · Day 56-12: Victory Over Sin in Grace

"Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." — Romans 6:11 (KJV)
Key Word: "Reckon" — Greek logizomai: to calculate, to count as fact. Not "feel dead to sin" but "count it as true."
Grace Age Victory: Not achieved by trying harder (law) but by believing correctly and yielding to the Spirit (grace).

Victory over sin in the Grace Age is not the result of greater moral exertion — it is the result of correct reckoning. We died with Christ (v. 6); we were buried with Him (v. 4); we rose with Him (v. 5). Sin's claim on us was severed at the cross. Now we must reckon (count, treat as fact) what God declares to be true — even when feelings disagree. Then yield (v. 13) — present yourself to God as alive from the dead. Reckoning + Yielding = Grace Age victory.

Application: The next time you face a sinful impulse, say aloud: "I am dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus." Reckon it. Then yield — physically turn away, pray, pick up the Word. Repeat until the reckoning becomes natural.

Prayer: Lord, we reckon it true — dead to sin, alive to You. Now we yield every member to Your service. Let grace reign through righteousness. Amen.
