Post #234: The Gospel: God's Power to Salvation | KJV Right Division (Week 9)
Post 234 · Day 57-2: Romans 1:16 – The Gospel: God's Power to Salvation
Who This Is For: Grace-age believers in the Body of Christ seeking to understand and live Paul's Gospel rightly divided.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” — Romans 1:16 KJV
Paul declares he is not ashamed of the Gospel. This is not a casual statement — Paul suffered imprisonment, beatings, and rejection for this message. The power he boasts in is not his own eloquence or strategy, but the Gospel itself: God's power unto salvation.
Right Division: Right Division: 'To the Jew first, and also to the Greek' describes the historical order of the Gospel's proclamation, not a permanent hierarchy. During the Acts period, Paul followed a pattern of beginning in synagogues. But Romans 1:16 establishes that the same Gospel now saves both Jew and Greek equally — no distinction in the grace age (Romans 3:22-23). The 'mystery' (Romans 16:25) is that Gentiles now receive the same salvation on identical terms.
Application: Share the Gospel this week with someone who does not know Christ. Not because you have to, but because you are not ashamed. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is resident in the simple proclamation: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your Word rightly divided. Help us to study, understand, and live what You have revealed through the Apostle Paul for this age of grace. Give us boldness to share and faithfulness to guard what has been committed to our trust. In Christ's name. Amen.
