Post #252: Striving to Preach Where Christ Not Named | KJV Right Division (Week 9)
Post 252 · Day 61-4: Romans 15:20 – Striving to Preach Where Christ Not Named
Who This Is For: Grace-age believers in the Body of Christ seeking to understand and live Paul's Gospel rightly divided.
“Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation.” — Romans 15:20 KJV
Paul's missionary ambition was frontier evangelism: places where no one had yet carried the name of Christ. He did not compete with other ministers or retread covered ground. He pressed into unreached territory with the Gospel, building his own foundation on Christ rather than adding floors to someone else's building.
Right Division: Right Division: Paul's strategy reveals the grace-age missional imperative. He kept moving — Antioch to Galatia, Galatia to Europe, Europe toward Spain. The grace Gospel is for all nations simultaneously, not sequentially through Israel. This outward, Gentile-reaching, boundary-crossing impulse defines the grace-age mission. We are not waiting for Israel to be converted first — we go to all peoples now.
Application: Think beyond your existing community: is there a person, neighborhood, or people group in your sphere who has not heard the Gospel because no one has ever gone there? Ask God to give you Paul's frontier mentality — not just deepening where the Gospel already is, but reaching where it has not yet gone.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your Word rightly divided. Help us to study, understand, and live what You have revealed through the Apostle Paul for this age of grace. Give us boldness to share and faithfulness to guard what has been committed to our trust. In Christ's name. Amen.
