Post #277: Delivered From the Wrath to Come | KJV Right Division (Week 10)
Post 277 · Day 68-1: 1 Thessalonians 1:10 – Delivered From the Wrath to Come
Who This Is For: Grace-age believers in the Body of Christ seeking to understand prophecy rightly divided from Paul's epistles and the whole counsel of God.
“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.” — 1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV
The Thessalonian believers had turned from idols to serve the living God — and they were waiting for His Son from heaven. The word 'delivered' is past tense: the deliverance from coming wrath is already accomplished. Christ's death and resurrection is the basis of our certain deliverance.
Right Division: Right Division: 'The wrath to come' is the Tribulation period — the Day of the Lord's wrath poured out on a Christ-rejecting world. The Body of Christ is not appointed to wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). The pretribulation Rapture is the mechanism of this deliverance: we are caught up before the wrath begins. This is not escape theology — it is covenant theology. God promised deliverance through Christ's work, and He will deliver.
Application: You are already delivered — past tense. The deliverance is not contingent on your faithfulness through the Tribulation but on Christ's finished work at Calvary. This should produce boldness, not presumption. Live as someone who has been delivered: free from fear of judgment, free to serve, free to give, free to go.
Prayer: Lord, open our eyes to behold wondrous things out of Thy law and prophecy. Give us wisdom to rightly divide what belongs to Israel and what belongs to the Body of Christ, that we may live with clarity and confidence in this age of grace. In Christ's name. Amen.
