Post #31: The Gospel of Grace Defined (1 Cor 15:1-4) | KJV Right Division (Week 2)
Post 31 · The Gospel of Grace Defined (1 Cor 15:1-4)
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you... how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." — 1 Corinthians 15:1,3-4 (KJV)
Who? Paul defining, with crystalline precision, the content of the saving gospel for the Corinthian church and for us.
Dispensation: Grace Age — this three-part gospel (died, buried, rose) is the saving message for all people today.
Key: Three historical facts + their meaning: Christ DIED (substitution), was BURIED (death confirmed), ROSE AGAIN (victory confirmed). Faith in these facts saves.

Paul's gospel can be stated in one sentence: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures. Each element matters: 'died for our sins' establishes the substitutionary atonement — He died in our place, bearing the penalty we deserved. 'Was buried' confirms His real, physical death — not a swoon, not a spiritual experience. 'Rose again the third day' confirms His victory over death and the acceptance of His sacrifice by the Father. 'According to the Scriptures' establishes the Old Testament foundation for all three (Isaiah 53; Psalm 16:10). To add to or subtract from this gospel is to preach another — which Paul twice curses (Gal 1:8-9).
Application: Memorize 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 word for word. Then practice explaining the gospel to an imaginary friend using only those two verses: What did Christ do? For whom? What does 'for our sins' mean? What does His resurrection prove? How does a person benefit from this? This exercise will clarify your own understanding and equip you to share the gospel with others.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You died for my sins. You were buried. You rose again. I believe it. I rest in it. Help me to hold this gospel clearly, share it boldly, and never add to what You finished on that cross and proved in that empty tomb. Amen.
