Post #316: Run With Patience the Race Set Before Us | KJV Right Division (Week 12)
Post 316 · Day 77-4: Hebrews 12:1-2 – Run With Patience the Race Set Before Us
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV
The cloud of witnesses — Hebrews 11's faith heroes — surrounds the runner as a gallery of encouragement. Lay aside weights and besetting sin. Run with endurance. Fix your eyes on Jesus — the originator and perfecter of faith — who ran His own race through the cross to the joy set before Him.
Right Division: Right Division: Hebrews is written to Hebrew believers facing the transition from Judaism to Christ, encouraging endurance under persecution. Its race imagery applies broadly to all who identify with Christ's sufferings. While Hebrews addresses primarily the Kingdom-program Hebrew audience, its call to endurance, its portrayal of the faith heroes, and its focus on Jesus apply to all who look to Christ by faith. Looking unto Jesus is the grace-age answer to every obstacle.
