Post #323: A Far More Exceeding Eternal Weight of Glory | KJV Right Division (Week 12)
Post 323 · Day 79-3: 2 Corinthians 4:17 – A Far More Exceeding Eternal Weight of Glory
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17 KJV
Paul's reframe of suffering is staggering: the troubles that feel heavy are actually light and momentary. The glory they are working toward is far more exceeding and eternal. The comparison is not between pain now and pleasure later — it is between an infinitesimal weight and an incomprehensible one.
Right Division: Right Division: The eternal weight of glory connects to the Judgment Seat of Christ and the glorification of the Body of Christ. Current suffering is not pointless — it has an eternal yield. Paul describes present trials as 'working for us' (katergadzomai, producing, achieving). The grace-age perspective does not deny suffering; it places it in the correct temporal frame. Momentary versus eternal. Light versus exceeding weight. The scales are not close.
