Post #327: Endure Hardness as a Good Soldier | KJV Right Division (Week 12)
Post 327 · Day 80-3: 2 Timothy 2:3 – Endure Hardness as a Good Soldier
“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” — 2 Timothy 2:3 KJV
Soldiers do not choose their battles or their conditions — they endure hardness as part of their assignment. Paul calls Timothy to soldier-endurance: not comfort-seeking but mission-enduring. The goodness of the soldier is not measured in ease but in faithfulness under fire.
Right Division: Right Division: The grace-age believer is a soldier — not in a physical army but in a spiritual conflict. The soldier metaphor recurs throughout Paul's epistles (Ephesians 6, Philippians 2:25, Philemon 1:2). The hardness is real: opposition, persecution, physical difficulty, spiritual warfare. But the soldier does not entangle himself with civilian affairs (verse 4) — he stays focused on pleasing the One who enlisted him. Right division keeps the soldier's focus: the mission, not the comfort.
