Post #328: Tribulation Worketh Patience | KJV Right Division (Week 12)
Post 328 · Day 80-4: Romans 5:3-4 – Tribulation Worketh Patience
“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.” — Romans 5:3-4 KJV
The grace-age character chain: tribulation produces patience, patience produces experience (proven character, dokime), proven character produces hope. Glory in tribulation — not despite it but in it — because of what it is producing. The process is purposeful; the outcome is hopeful.
Right Division: Right Division: Romans 5:3 follows from Romans 5:1 (justification by faith) and 5:2 (access into grace and the hope of glory). We glory in tribulations because we are already justified and already in grace — the tribulations cannot undo our standing. Grace-age suffering is not punishment (Christ absorbed God's wrath); it is productive (it builds the character of Christ in us). The glory we have in suffering is the glory of confidence in God's process.
