Post #33: Imputed Righteousness Explained | KJV Right Division (Week 2)
Post 33 · Reconciliation – 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
"And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them." — 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (KJV)
Who? Paul describing the double reconciliation: what God has done (reconciled us to Himself) and what He calls us to do (declare this reconciliation).
Dispensation: Grace Age — reconciliation is God's work in Christ; our role is ambassadors announcing it, not priests performing it.
Key: Reconciliation = God removing the enmity between Himself and sinners through Christ's death — not imputing sins to those who believe.

Reconciliation is one of the richest words in Paul's vocabulary. It means the removal of the hostility between estranged parties — in this case, between God and sinful humanity. God was in Christ, actively reconciling — removing the barrier of sin through the cross. 'Not imputing their trespasses unto them' is the negative side of justification: God is not counting our sins against us. The positive side follows in verse 21: He made Christ to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. This double exchange — our sin to Christ, His righteousness to us — is the heart of the Grace-Age gospel. And now we are ambassadors, pleading with the world to be reconciled to God.
Application: Read 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 as a unit. Notice the sequence: Christ's love compels us (v.14), we are new creatures (v.17), we have a ministry (v.18), we are ambassadors (v.20). At what point in this passage does God call you to action? What is the specific message you are to deliver as an ambassador? Write it out in your own words.

Prayer: God of reconciliation, You removed the barrier we could never cross. You made peace through the blood of Your Son. Help us to carry that message as faithful ambassadors — urgently, lovingly, clearly. Amen.
