Post #333: Set Your Mind on Things Above | KJV Right Division (Week 12)

Post 333 · Day 82-1: Colossians 3:2 – Set Your Mind on Things Above

Who This Is For: Grace-age believers in the Body of Christ who desire to finish strong, endure faithfully, and hear "Well done" at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” — Colossians 3:2 KJV

Mind-setting is deliberate — an act of will reinforced by repetition until it becomes a posture. Things above: Christ seated at the right hand of God, the riches of grace, the hope of glory, the heavenly citizenship. Things on the earth: the world's systems, temporary pleasures, earthly status. The contrast is not between evil and good but between temporal and eternal.

Right Division: Right Division: 'Things above' is the grace-age orientation. In the Kingdom program, Israel looked for a restored earthly Kingdom — a physical land, temple, and throne. The Body of Christ's hope is heavenly: seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20), looking for the Savior from heaven (1 Thessalonians 1:10). This does not mean we disengage from earth but that we engage from a heavenly perspective — as ambassadors, not settlers.

Application: Take inventory of where your mind naturally goes in unoccupied moments. Is it to earthly anxieties, entertainments, and concerns — or to things above? This week, practice setting your affection: when your mind drifts earthward, deliberately redirect it to Christ, to the hope of glory, to your heavenly calling. It takes practice. Practice today.
Prayer: Lord, let us not be weary in well doing. Strengthen us by Your Spirit in the inner man. Let us run with patience the race set before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Help us to finish strong — not by our strength but by Yours. In Christ's name. Amen.
