Post #39: Colossians 2:14 – The Handwriting Blotted Out | KJV Right Division (Week 2)

Post 39 · The Indwelling Christ (Col 1:27)

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." — Colossians 1:27 (KJV)
Who? Gentile believers in Colossae — the mystery Paul preaches to them includes this stunning truth: Christ lives in every believer.
Dispensation: Grace Age — 'Christ in you' is a mystery unknown in previous ages; it defines the intimacy of Grace-Age union with Christ.
Key: "Christ in you" — not Christ beside you, not Christ above you, but Christ dwelling within every member of His Body by the Spirit.

The mystery of 'Christ in you, the hope of glory' was hidden from previous generations (Col 1:26). Old Testament saints knew God was FOR them and WITH them — but the internal, indwelling presence of Christ within each believer is a Grace-Age reality. Christ does not merely assist us from outside — He lives in us. 'The hope of glory' means His indwelling presence is the guarantee and foretaste of our future glorification. We will be glorified because the One who is glory lives in us. This truth transforms how we understand spiritual growth: it is not us reaching up to Christ but Christ within us expressing Himself through our yielded lives.

Application: Read Galatians 2:20 — Paul's personal experience of 'Christ liveth in me.' Then read Colossians 3:4 — 'Christ, who is our life.' What is the difference between trying to live FOR Christ and allowing Christ to live THROUGH you? What does it practically look like to let the indwelling Christ be your life rather than your motivation for self-effort?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You live in me. That is more than I can fully comprehend. Let me stop striving to reach You and start resting in Your indwelling presence. Be my life — not my goal. Let others see You when they see me. Amen.
