Post #41: The New Creature in Christ (2 Cor 5:17) | KJV Right Division (Week 2)
Post 41 · Grace and Peace – Paul's Signature Greeting
"To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ." — Romans 1:7 (KJV)
Who? Paul greeting the Roman believers — this exact greeting ('grace and peace') opens every one of Paul's 13 epistles.
Dispensation: Grace Age — 'grace and peace' is not merely a pleasantry; it is a theological statement defining the order of salvation.
Key: Grace before peace — always. You cannot have peace with God until grace has dealt with the sin problem. The order is the doctrine.

Every one of Paul's letters opens with 'grace and peace.' The order is not accidental — it is theological. Grace must precede peace because peace with God is the result of grace applied. By nature, we are enemies of God (Rom 5:10), under wrath, without peace. Grace changes our standing — justifying us, reconciling us, forgiving us. Peace is the consequence: 'being justified by faith, we HAVE peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ' (Rom 5:1). This inner peace is not a feeling but a fact — our relationship with God has been permanently altered by grace. Paul begins every letter here because it is the foundation of everything else he will say.
Application: Look up the opening of all 13 Pauline epistles (Romans through Philemon) and confirm that each begins with 'grace and peace.' Then read Romans 5:1-11 — the theological unpacking of 'peace with God.' What three things does Paul say we have because of justification (5:1-2)? How is this different from the peace the world gives (cf. John 14:27)?

Prayer: God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ, Your grace reached us when we were enemies. Your peace replaced enmity with access. May we live today in the settled reality of both — graced and at peace with You forever. Amen.
