Post #43: Redemption Through His Blood (Eph 1:7) | KJV Right Division (Week 2)
Post 43 · Saved to Serve – Ephesians 2:10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." — Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
Who? The same believers just declared 'not of works' (v.9) are now told they were 'created... unto good works.' Works follow salvation; they don't produce it.
Dispensation: Grace Age — works are the fruit of grace, not the root. We are saved FROM works-righteousness TO walk in good works.
Key: "His workmanship" (ποίημα — poem) = God's masterpiece; we are His creative work in Christ, designed with a purpose.

Ephesians 2:8-10 is a perfect theological unit: saved by grace through faith, not of works (vv.8-9) — so that we walk in good works (v.10). The 'for' of verse 10 connects salvation to purpose: we are not saved merely to escape hell but to become God's workmanship — His poem, His masterpiece of grace — walking in works He planned before we were born. This is the answer to antinomianism: grace doesn't eliminate good works; it establishes them on the right foundation. We work because we ARE His creation in Christ, not in order to become it. Our identity precedes and produces our activity.
Application: Read Ephesians 2:10 and Colossians 3:17. Together they frame the Grace-Age ethic: we are God's poem (Eph 2:10) and we do everything 'in the name of the Lord Jesus' (Col 3:17). What are the 'good works God hath before ordained' for your life? Ask God to reveal the specific service and ministry He has prepared for you — and notice that it is already waiting, already appointed.

Prayer: Lord, You made us Your masterpiece in Christ. We are Your creative work — not an accident but a design. Help us to walk in the works You have already ordained for us, bringing glory to Your name as living poems of grace. Amen.
