Post 5 · Israel vs. the Church – Key Distinctions
"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in." — Romans 11:25 (KJV)
Who? Gentile believers in Rome — Paul warns them not to be arrogant about Israel's temporary blindness.
Dispensation: Grace Age — Israel is set aside nationally; the Body of Christ (Jew and Gentile equally) is now God's primary program.
Key: Israel = a nation with earthly promises, land, temple, and Law. The Church = a spiritual Body with heavenly promises, no earthly headquarters, under Grace.

Confusing Israel and the Church is perhaps the single greatest source of doctrinal error in Christendom. Israel was called to be a kingdom of priests (Ex 19:6), given the Law at Sinai, and promised a land and throne. The Church — the Body of Christ — was hidden in God before time (Eph 3:9), revealed through Paul, and called to heavenly citizenship (Phil 3:20). Their programs, covenants, and promises are distinct. Israel's blindness is temporary; their restoration is certain. But today, we are in the parenthesis of Grace.
Application: List five promises given specifically to Israel (e.g., land, Davidic throne, temple restoration) and five promises given to the Body of Christ (e.g., seated in heavenly places, ambassadors of reconciliation). Notice how mixing them creates confusion.

Prayer: Father, help us to honor Your faithfulness to Israel while fully embracing our calling as members of the Body of Christ. Keep us from robbing either program of its glory. Amen.
