Post #6: The Kingdom Gospel vs. the Gospel of Grace | KJV Right Division (Week 1)

Post 6 · The Kingdom Gospel vs. the Gospel of Grace

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." — 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)
Who? The Corinthian church — and by extension, every Grace-Age believer who must know which gospel saves us today.
Dispensation: Grace Age — Paul's gospel of grace (death, burial, resurrection) is the only saving message for today.
Key: Two gospels in Scripture: the Gospel of the Kingdom (repent, the kingdom is at hand — Matt 4:17) and the Gospel of Grace (Christ died for our sins — 1 Cor 15:3). Only one saves us today.

The 'Gospel of the Kingdom' announced by John the Baptist, Jesus, and the Twelve was the offer of the Messianic Kingdom to Israel — contingent on national repentance. When Israel rejected the King, that offer was temporarily set aside (Matt 23:37-38). God then revealed through Paul a new message: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. This is the Gospel of Grace, and it is the only saving message for this dispensation. Mixing the two — adding repentance-from-sins-as-works, baptism, or kingdom conditions — corrupts the gospel Paul declared anathema to alter (Gal 1:8-9).

Application: Read Matthew 4:17 (Kingdom gospel) and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (Gospel of Grace) back to back. Write out the differences: who preaches it, what it demands, who the audience is, and what it promises. Determine which one saves a person today.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that Your death, burial, and resurrection are the complete and sufficient basis of our salvation. Help us to guard this gospel and never add to what You finished. Amen.
