Post #64: The Sermon on the Mount – Kingdom Law | KJV Right Division (Week 3)
Post 64 · The Kingdom Parables – Matthew 13
"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." — Matthew 13:11 (KJV)
Who? Jesus speaking to His disciples after the crowd's growing rejection — revealing mysteries about the Kingdom's form during the King's absence.
Dispensation: Transition — the Kingdom parables describe the 'mystery form' of the Kingdom during the inter-advent period, when the King is absent.
Key: "Mysteries of the kingdom" = truths about the Kingdom not previously revealed: its unexpected form during the King's rejection and absence.

Matthew 13 contains seven parables about the Kingdom of heaven — not the fully-established Millennial Kingdom, but the Kingdom in its 'mystery form' during the period of Israel's rejection and the King's absence. The sower, tares and wheat, mustard seed, leaven, treasure, pearl, and dragnet all describe what happens to the Kingdom message in a world that has rejected its King. Key truths: the Word goes out broadly but is received variably (sower); good and evil grow together until judgment (tares); the Kingdom begins small and grows large (mustard seed); false doctrine spreads invisibly (leaven). These parables do not describe the Church — they describe the Kingdom program in its current, interim, mystery form.
Application: Read the Parable of the Tares (Matt 13:24-30, 36-43). Jesus gives His own interpretation: the field is the world (not the church), the sower is the Son of Man, the good seed are Kingdom sons, the tares are the devil's children. At the end of the age, angels separate them — not church discipline, but cosmic judgment. How does understanding that this is about the Kingdom (not the Church) change how you interpret it? What does it tell you about God's patience with evil in the world?

Prayer: Lord, You are patient, not willing that any should perish. You let tares and wheat grow together until the harvest. Give us Your patience with a world that has rejected its King, and Your urgency to reach the lost before the harvest comes. Amen.
