Post #65: Matthew 10 Commission – Israel Only | KJV Right Division (Week 3)
Post 65 · The 70 Weeks of Daniel (Dan 9:24-27)
"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy." — Daniel 9:24 (KJV)
Dispensation: Future — 69 of the 70 weeks have been fulfilled; the 70th week (Tribulation) is still future, pending Israel's restoration to God's prophetic program.
Key: Seventy 'weeks' (heptads of years = 490 years total). 69 weeks ended at Christ's triumphal entry; the 70th week is the coming 7-year Tribulation.
Daniel 9:24-27 is the backbone of biblical prophecy. God gives Israel a countdown: 490 years (70 weeks of years) to accomplish six goals, including making an end of sins and bringing in everlasting righteousness. Sixty-nine weeks (483 years, using prophetic years of 360 days) ran from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to Christ's triumphal entry — confirmed by Sir Robert Anderson's calculations to the very day. Then the Messiah was 'cut off' (crucified) and Jerusalem destroyed (70 AD — the prince's people). A gap follows — the current Church Age — and the 70th week (the Tribulation) begins when Antichrist confirms a covenant with Israel (v.27). This timeline is specifically for Israel and Jerusalem, confirming that the Church is not in Daniel's 70th week.
