Post #79: Israel's Restoration Prophesied | KJV Right Division (Week 3)
Post 79 · The Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10)
"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." — 2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)
Dispensation: Grace Age → future (after Rapture) — the Bema judgment is distinct from the Great White Throne (Rev 20:11-15), which is for unbelievers.
Key: Bema = the Roman athletic award platform; the judgment seat of Christ is a rewards evaluation, not a salvation court. Believers are judged for SERVICE, not for SIN.
The judgment seat (βῆμα, bema) of Christ is a critical distinction in dispensational theology. It is not the Great White Throne of Revelation 20 — that is for unbelievers, judged for sins. The bema is for believers, evaluated for service. At the bema, a believer's works are tested 'as by fire' (1 Cor 3:12-15): gold, silver, precious stones survive; wood, hay, stubble burn. The believer who suffers loss 'shall be saved; yet so as by fire' (v.15) — salvation is never at stake, only rewards. The Crown of Life, the Crown of Righteousness, the Crown of Glory — these are the bema's awards. This doctrine motivates faithful service not out of fear of losing salvation but out of love for the Lord and desire to hear 'Well done, good and faithful servant' (Matt 25:21).
