Romans 7 – The Believer's Struggle When Living Under Law | KJV
“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
— Romans 7:24-25 KJVRomans 7 describes the agony of trying to live the Christian life through Law-keeping and self-effort. The more you try not to covet, the more you covet. Sin takes occasion through the very commandment meant to stop it. This is the Law-based Christian experience — and it leads to wretchedness.
The answer is Romans 8 — life in the Spirit. The Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus sets free from the law of sin and death — Romans 8:2. Grace does not just pardon; it empowers. What Law could never accomplish, the Spirit achieves.
If Romans 7 sounds like your daily experience, move to Romans 8. Walk in the Spirit — Galatians 5:16 — and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The guarantee is God's, not yours.
