The Davidic Covenant – Israel's King and Eternal Throne | KJV
“And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.”
— 2 Samuel 7:16 KJVGod promised David a dynasty, a kingdom, and a throne that would last forever. This Davidic Covenant is the foundation of the Messianic hope — the coming King from the line of David who would reign on David's literal throne forever.
Jesus is that King — Matthew 1:1, Luke 1:32. But Israel rejected Him at His first coming. The Kingdom was not established then. It remains for the Second Coming — Revelation 20 — when He will literally reign from Jerusalem on David's throne for one thousand years.
The Davidic Covenant guarantees a literal future Kingdom. For us, our citizenship is heavenly — Philippians 3:20. But we rejoice that Israel's King is coming, and we will reign with Him — Revelation 20:6.
