The Mosaic Covenant – Conditional Law Given at Sinai for Israel | KJV

Week 1 · Day 3-2 · 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people.”

— Exodus 19:5 KJV

Unlike the Abrahamic Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant was conditional — if ye will obey. Israel received the Law at Sinai as the terms of their national relationship with God. Obedience brought blessing; disobedience brought cursing — Deuteronomy 28.

✂ Right Division

Galatians 3:19 — the Law was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come. Two crucial words: added (not the original plan) and till (temporary by design). The Law pointed to Christ and was never intended to save.

✦ Application

The Law accomplished its purpose. Christ came. You are no longer under the schoolmaster. Stand in the grace of God through faith in Christ — free from the condemnation the Law could only announce.
