The Mystery Hidden Since the World Began | Colossians 1:26 KJV

“Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints.”

— Colossians 1:26 KJV

Something was completely hidden until Paul — not hinted at, not foreshadowed, but hidden. The mystery of the Body of Christ: that Jew and Gentile would become one equal body in Christ, with heavenly blessings, during this age of grace between Israel's two national dealings with God.

✂ Right Division

Isaiah 53 prophesied the suffering Servant. Zechariah 14 prophesied the returning King. But the parenthesis between — the Church age — was sealed until God revealed it through Paul. This is why the Gospels and Acts do not fully teach Church truth. Paul is uniquely your teacher.

✦ Application

You are living in the age that Old Testament prophets longed to understand — 1 Peter 1:10-12. They searched diligently for what you hold in your hands. Treasure this mystery. Study it. Live it.

A widow is freed from the law of her husband by his death. Paul applies the same principle: we died with Christ — Galatians 2:20 — and that death severed our legal relationship to the Law.
