The Ten Commandments – For Israel or Everyone? | Exodus 20 KJV Right Division
“I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”
— Exodus 20:2 KJVBefore God gave even one commandment, He identified His audience: the nation He had just delivered from Egypt. The Ten Commandments opened with Israel's national identity. Deuteronomy 5:3 confirms — The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us.
The moral principles in the Commandments reflect God's holy character — always valuable. But as a legal covenant for justification, the Mosaic Law was given to Israel, not the Gentile Church. Galatians 3:17 — the Law came 430 years after Abraham's promise and cannot disannul grace.
You live in the age of grace — Romans 3:28: justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Let the Commandments show you God's holiness. Let the cross show you His grace. Rest in the finished work.
