Who Is the Word of Truth For? Context Is Everything | KJV Right Division

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

— 2 Timothy 3:16 KJV

All Scripture is inspired — but not all Scripture is addressed to you. God told Noah to build an ark. That was Scripture. It was not your assignment. The same principle runs through every page of the Bible, and recognizing it is the beginning of real understanding.

✂ Right Division

The Bible contains God's word to Israel, to the Church, and to the nations. Right division identifies the recipient before applying the content. Peter's Pentecost sermon was for Israel. Paul's prison epistles are for the Body of Christ. Treat them accordingly.

✦ Application

Before applying any verse, ask: Who received this? When? Under which dispensation? This three-second habit will protect you from misapplication and flood your study with new light.

A widow is freed from the law of her husband by his death. Paul applies the same principle: we died with Christ — Galatians 2:20 — and that death severed our legal relationship to the Law.
