This Is Life Eternal – John 17:3 | KJV

Week 4 · Day 23-3 · 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

KJV

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Eternal life is not described here merely as endless duration. It is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent.

✂ Right Division

John records Christ's earthly ministry to Israel, yet the person of Christ is central to all of God's purpose. Today, the gospel of the grace of God proclaims eternal life through Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

✦ Application

Do not reduce eternal life to a distant future. Knowing God through Jesus Christ changes the life you live now.

1 Matthew 13:10–11 KJV And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 2 John 14:29 KJV And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. 3 Isaiah 46:9–10 KJV Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there...

Dead to the Law – Married to the Risen Christ | Romans 7:4 KJV

Week 2 · Day 12-1 · 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead.” — Romans 7:4 KJV Death breaks the Law's hold. A widow is freed from the law of her husband by his death. Paul applies the same principle: we died with Christ — Galatians 2:20 — and that death severed our legal relationship to the Law. We are no longer married to the Law. We are married to the risen Christ. ✂ Right Division The purpose of this new marriage: that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Not the fruit of legal compliance under threat of condemnation, but the fruit of a loving relationship with the risen Christ. The Spirit produces this fruit naturally — Galatians 5:22-23. ✦ Application You are not married to the Law. You are united to the risen Christ. Let that relationship produce fruit in your life — naturally, freely, joyfu...
